Financing via a foreign bank
Financing residential plots of land in Switzerland via a foreign banking institution is merely possible subject to restrictions. As a general rule the obligation to obtain approval shall only be deemed inapplicable if the outside financing is in line with customary practice in Switzerland, and a Swiss bank would grant the same debtor at least a similar financing package.
In summary it can be said that Switzerland provides foreign nationals with far-reaching opportunities in respect of purchasing real estate. However, it is recommended that a review be carried out in advance in individual cases in accordance with the Swiss Approval Act.
